Here at the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association, we are proud to partner with various organizations doing incredible work across fields tied closely to our own mission and operations — work that also lies close to our hearts.
These include:
- Preservation: Protecting our environment, wild spaces, winters, and backcountry recreation access.
- Education: Developing essential skills for outdoor recreationists.
- Community: Promoting connection, accessibility, and stewardship in the outdoors.
- Safety: Providing critical avalanche forecasting information and resources, as well as life-saving backcountry rescue and recovery services.
Below is a list of the organizations we work most closely with, and that we also support financially through annual contributions:
Winter Wildlands Alliance
Mission: Winter Wildlands Alliance is a national nonprofit organization working to inspire and empower people to protect America’s wild snowscapes.
Vision: A powerful and diverse Alliance of winter recreationists protecting and stewarding America’s wild snowscapes to ensure thriving ecosystems, natural soundscapes, climate resilience, and the long-range sustainability of public-access human-powered recreation.
Colorado Mountain Club
Mission: Colorado Mountain Club (CMC) fosters connections to Colorado landscapes through community, stewardship, and outdoor education and recreation.

Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC)
About: The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) is a program within the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Executive Director’s Office. The program is a partnership between the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Department of Transportation (CDOT), and the Friends of the CAIC (FoCAIC) a 501c3 group. The mission of the CAIC is to provide avalanche information, education and promote research for the protection of life, property and the enhancement of the state’s economy.
Colorado Search & Rescue (CSAR)
Mission: CSAR brings organizations together to find, rescue, and recover those in need in the Colorado backcountry. Composed of volunteers from its member teams, CSAR assists and empowers through public education, advocacy, coordination, collaboration, and continuous skill development.
Vision: A Colorado where backcountry adventurers are informed and our world-class backcountry search & rescue services save lives and serve our communities.
While these key partnerships extend well beyond financial support, we are pleased to help directly fund their vital work.
Best of all, every time you book a reservation or visit a hut in our system, you are helping support them, too!
We have tremendous appreciation for these organizations, whose work is fundamental to our ability to fulfill our own objectives. It is thanks to their impact that we can provide the backcountry hut experiences you’ve come to know and love — and ensure they remain protected for generations to come.
Because their work impacts you, too — and because your bookings enable us to support them — we encourage you to get to know these organizations directly. Visit their websites; follow along and engage with them on social media; and learn more about all the ways they’re contributing to enhance our collective outdoor recreation experience. And, if you feel so inclined, please consider becoming a member of these outstanding organizations, to further support their work.
